Philadelphia Announces Plans to Fight Illegal Trash Dumping in North Philly Neighborhoods

PHILADELPHIA (CBS Philadelphia) — North10, Philadelphia is partnering with the City of Philadelphia and Richard S. Burns & Co. to address illegal dumping in the Hunting Park and East Tioga neighborhoods through a new community-focused cleanup initiative.
The initiative targets five illegal dumping hotspots by providing legal disposal options, adding cameras and lighting, and offering vouchers that help residents, contractors, and small businesses properly dispose of waste. The program aims to reduce the dumping of items such as tires, furniture, appliances, and construction debris while creating a cleaner and safer environment for the community.
North10, Philadelphia leaders emphasized that addressing illegal dumping requires both accountability and accessible solutions for people who may face barriers to proper waste disposal. Through this partnership, North10, Philadelphia is working with community members and local partners to improve neighborhood conditions and support long-term environmental improvements.
