WHO WE ARE
NORTH10 PHILADELPHIA (NORTH10) is committed to improving the overall quality of life in the Hunting Park – East Tioga communities of North Philadelphia. Since 2007, the Lenfest Center has provided the youth of the Hunting Park-East Tioga sections of North Philadelphia with a welcoming, safe, and enriching refuge from systemic neighborhood violence, poverty, and a myriad of other trauma-inducing challenges. In 2018, North10, Philadelphia was formed as the parent organization, with the Lenfest Center as the cornerstone of innovative and inclusive efforts to revitalize this neighborhood. North10 has also expanded our original focus on youth to include all residents of our neighborhood.
North10, Philadelphia works with our neighbors in Hunting Park-East Tioga and employs a holistic model to address issues of systemic violence, poverty, and disinvestment that have induced trauma, created barriers, and challenged the health and prosperity of this community. In recognition of the research that shows that the neighborhood in which we are born and grow up significantly impacts our life outcomes, including educational path, potential earnings, economic mobility, and long-term health, we invest in infrastructure, people, and programming to address Social Determinants of Health (SDoH). In close collaboration with neighborhood stakeholders North10 has developed an array of programs to meet the evolving needs of all neighborhood residents. North10’s goal is for our community to be home to high-quality, cradle-to-career educational options; dignified and affordable housing; a thriving cohort of local businesses and job opportunities; and a safer, cleaner, healthier, and greener environment. Our activities include workforce development; a free-choice, no-cost community market; out-of-school time programs for youth; and affordable housing.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Part-Time Youth Programs Coordinator will assist with planning and implementing youth programming
at the Lenfest Center. This position includes directly running programs and activities and building and
supporting responsive, innovative youth programs and activities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be primarily responsible for the care and oversight of children and youth in assigned groups:
- Build a positive relationship with each youth participant in your care and foster positive connections
between participants. - Actively engage with children, at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each
child in the group. - Carry out specific projects, as directed by Director of Children and Youth Programs.
- Adhere to policies and procedures in a pro-active manner, making safety and care of children your
primary focus. - Supervise youth transitions, meals program, arrival, and dismissal.
- Assist with daily reports of attendance and incidents.
- Support Out of School Time program scheduling
- Participate in staff development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
- Support a productive work environment.
- Help build positive relations with youth and within North10 and external parties.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing lesson and activities with youth.
- Follow up with parents and guardians regarding attendance and behavior.
- Support a positive climate and culture that encourages positive character growth and responsibility
among youth. - Assist program partners in the successful implementation of activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Candidate must be at least 21 years of age
- Certification in trauma informed and restorative practices preferred
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Experience working directly with young school-aged children
- Two or more years of after school/ summer camp experience overseeing multiple program areas
with young learners, preferably in a non-profit setting - Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

The Program Coordinator, OST Programs will support all Out of School time programs and:
- Support Out of School Time program scheduling
- Be primarily responsible for care and oversight of youth in grades 5-8
- Enter and keep updated youth records in database
- Be a key contact to parents/guardians
- Carry out specific projects, as directed by Director of Children and Youth Programs.

- Support Director of Children and Youth Programs, in compliance with policies and procedures for

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a Community Center in an urban neighborhood. This is a non-smoking worksite. Depending on the specific program, work is performed both indoors and outdoors and though most programs operate during the day, a few may meet in the evenings and/or weekends. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the individual may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be
loud at times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, listen and interact with all levels of staff as well as visitors and members of the community. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier items and equipment. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to read multiple handwritings. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs and may be in close proximity to loud equipment, at times. Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. Must be able to see and respond to potentially dangerous situations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The High School Case Manager, OST Programs will support all out of school time high school programs and provide case management services to students and families to promote and support students’ physical and emotional wellness to bolster academic and social success; develop a plan of action and implement it to successful completion. This role requires coordinating and providing care that is safe, timely, and effective.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and maintain a database of referral resources for social service agencies within the local
community, facilitate relationships with agencies and resources to connect students to
long-term support. - Coordinate outreach to support services, including referrals and liaison with housing agencies,
social services, mental health services, financial support agencies, food services, and other basic
needs resources for students. - Provide crisis intervention for students with immediate definable needs such as shelter, food,
financial, transportation, and legal support. - Management and oversight of 8th-12th grade out of school time program scheduling.
- Database management.
- Project management.
- Create, plan, implement, and assist with evaluation of programs aimed at high school youth that are
enriching, creative, well-balanced, comprehensive, developmentally appropriate and fun. - Provide leadership for implementation of program curriculums, lesson plans, and instruction that
foster youth development and ensure programs run smoothly. - Serve students, parents, staff and program partners using professional behavior at all times. Serve
as a role model and mentor to students, making a positive impression on the life of each by leading,
supporting, and coaching them to develop their self-esteem and strengthen their academic, physical,
and interpersonal skills. - Keeps accurate records of attendance and participation.
- Organize, order, and/or purchase necessary supplies and/or equipment for programs/activities.
- Assist with the snack order and inventory, meal preparation and preparedness (allergy and safety
awareness), count and serving, according to USDA standards. - Must be able to use clear concise words, grammar and tools to properly communicate services to
our students and their families, staff, volunteers and the public. Fluency in a language other than
English, particularly Spanish, is encouraged but not required. - Communicate effectively with parents concerning activities/programs, schedule changes,
participant’s behavior, needs and progress. - Case management of 40-50 youth, by conducting individual assessments, developing individual
plans, and setting appropriate academic/employment goals for participants based on academic and
personal enrichment needs. - Identify and utilize resources (schools, community members, employers/business representatives
and/or other service providers) that can provide a wide variety of desired services to participants
including alternative education, occupational skills training, self-enrichment, and employment
training programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
- Professional experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Certification in trauma informed and restorative practices preferred.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Experience working directly with high school age youth
- Five years or more experience overseeing multiple program areas with adolescent learners,
preferably in a non-profit setting. - Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
- Nonprofit leadership experience preferred.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
