K-12 Out of School Time (OST) Youth Programs
Providing High Quality After-School and Summer Programming to Local Youth
North10, Philadelphia’s Youth Programs offer high quality, structured learning, enrichment, and recreational opportunities for local youth in grades K-12, outside of the traditional school day and during the summer months. We implement a Positive Youth Development approach to our after-school and summer programming that fosters trusting adult-to-youth and youth-to-youth relationship building and holds clear expectations ensuring all our kids graduate high school on time with an actionable plan for college and/ or a career of their choice.
Our Approach
- Clear expectations that provide a pathway for access to and success at post-secondary academic institutions and/ or career-building jobs.
- Integration of trauma-informed care to support the positive growth and development of children who live with systemic stresses that can cause lasting impact.
- Strong relationships with youth built on a foundation of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
Program Features
Our OST programs are designed to meet the unique needs of youth at different stages of their development. Here are some key features:
- Flexible timing: We offer programs outside of school hours and during summer breaks.
- Meals included: Participants receive meals such as snacks, hot dinners during the school year, and breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the summer months.
- Collaboration with parents/guardians and schools: We work closely with families and local schools to understand and address the specific needs of each young person.
- Character development: Our focus is not just on academic skills but also on building character traits that will help youth succeed in life.
Enrichment
We work closely with program partners to ensure that we provide the best resources and opportunities for our youth because kids should be kids.
ARTrageous: Art education and creative expression
MadBeatz: Academic enrichment through drum instruction
Clay Studio: Pottery and ceramics classes
KB Foundation: One-on-one mentoring for personal and academic growth
Mighty Writers: Developing writing skills and fostering creativity
Vetri Community Partnership: Nutrition education teaching healthy eating habits
