2nd Annual Gala

In May, North10, Philadelphia hosted its 2nd Annual Spring Gala—an evening of celebration, purpose, and community at Vie by Cescaphe. Surrounded by neighbors, local leaders, public figures, and supporters, we gathered to reflect on our shared progress and renew our collective commitment to a stronger, healthier North Philadelphia. The evening was a reminder that real change happens when people come together. Guests enjoyed a warm and elegant atmosphere, a gourmet dinner, and a spirited live auction—all in support of North10’s work in the Hunting Park and East Tioga neighborhoods. From our youth-focused programs to transformative initiatives in health and housing, the gala spotlighted the many ways our community is growing, thriving, and shaping its own future. Together, we lifted up the work of North10’s three core focus areas: The Impact Center, where adults gain the skills, resources, and confidence to pursue economic opportunity; The Carman Gardens Legacy Project, honoring a beloved landmark while bringing vital health services to the community; And our role as a Community Strategy Team, building capacity, fostering collaboration, and tackling systemic challenges with a holistic approach. This special night underscored the power of unity, generosity, and vision. We are grateful to everyone who joined us—not just to celebrate what we’ve accomplished, but to invest in the continued transformation of the community we serve.

JAWS Bike Drive

North10, Philadelphia partnered with Ron Jaworski’s foundation, Jaws Youth Playbook, to bring an extraordinary opportunity to families in our community. Together, we helped identify parents and guardians interested in surprising their children—ages 5 to 9—with a brand-new bike. Jaws Youth Playbook generously donated 400 bikes, making this one of the largest and most exciting holiday giveaways hosted at the Lenfest Center.

Families from low-income households were invited to register in advance, with bike pickup taking place during the Jaws Bike Drive on December 6th, 2024. Held at North10, Philadelphia’s Lenfest Center and led by former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski and his team, the event offered families a joyful and memorable moment as children received a gift that encouraged play, independence, and safe outdoor activity. This partnership helped ensure that hundreds of young riders in the Hunting Park community started their holiday season with excitement and opportunity.

Carman Gardens Skate Party

As part of our Black History Month celebration, the Carman Gardens Legacy Skate Party brought the community together for an evening of shared memories, cultural pride, and joyful reflection. Held in honor of the historic Carman Gardens Skate Rink, the event paid tribute to a space that once stood as a beacon of Black entrepreneurship, creativity, and resilience in North Philadelphia. Generations laced up their skates and rolled through time during a Friday night skate jam—reviving the energy, music, and sense of belonging that made Carman Gardens a cornerstone of community life.

Attendees contributed personal stories, photographs, and memorabilia to support the Legacy Project’s growing archive—preserving the spirit and history of the rink for future generations. More than just a celebration, the skate party marked a powerful moment in the ongoing transformation of Carman Gardens into the Community Carman Gardens Health Center. Through this Black-led initiative, North10 and GPHA are carrying forward the site’s legacy—shifting from recreation to restoration, from safe haven to healing space. The Carman Gardens Legacy Project embodies our commitment to honoring the past while building a healthier, more equitable future for Nicetown-Tioga and beyond.

North10 will continue to steward these partnerships as we work toward a stronger, healthier, and more thriving Hunting Park–East Tioga.

Friendsgiving

Our Friendsgiving marked a meaningful milestone for our community. For the first time in the many years we’ve hosted this event, we welcomed official sponsors—CF Charities and SNIPES—whose collaboration helped us expand the experience for families across the neighborhood. Together, we provided hot meals featuring a Thanksgiving-themed menu, creating a warm and welcoming space for neighbors to gather, share food, and enjoy the holiday spirit. The event also included a clothes and shoes raffle, offering added support as the winter season approaches. To ensure a safe and family-friendly environment, all children attended with a parent or guardian. Our Friendsgiving celebration continues to be a cherished tradition, strengthened this year by new partnerships and a shared commitment to community care.

April HP-ET Community Impact Expo

In April, North10, Philadelphia convened the Hunting Park–East Tioga Community Support Forum—bringing together nonprofits committed to serving the neighborhood and funders interested in collaborative, place-based investment. As the community backbone, North10 continues to create pathways for organizations to align their efforts and improve life outcomes for residents in Hunting Park–East Tioga.

Hosted at the Lenfest Center, the forum provided space for nonprofits to share their programs, explore opportunities to strengthen services, and discuss strategies that address local needs. Funders were invited to learn directly from the organizations working on the ground and to engage in an open conversation about coordinated support for the neighborhood.

The session highlighted the collective commitment to revitalizing the community, improving health and safety, and expanding opportunities for the people we serve. Through dialogue, idea-sharing, and relationship-building, the forum reinforced the importance of a community-centered approach—one where collaboration drives long-term impact.

North10 will continue to steward these partnerships as we work toward a stronger, healthier, and more thriving Hunting Park–East Tioga.
